About tuyl
|
thMy name is Tuyl ("Tile"), and I am a New Orleans native living between Louisiana and Colorado. I am a mother of three, a wife, a friend, a daughter, and a social worker. I am an independently Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Colorado, Louisiana, and Washington state and a Board Approved Clinical Supervisor (BACS) in Louisiana. I have been working in the mental health field for nearly 20 years. I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology from LSU. I received a Masters of Social Work (MSW) and a Masters of Public Health (MPH) from Tulane University, where I also earned a Certificate in Disaster Mental Health in 2010. I have also been certified by the American Association Suicidology (AAS) as a School Suicide Prevention Specialist since 2015.
Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to work in Louisiana state-wide crisis and disaster intervention, New Orleans school systems, the New Orleans criminal justice system, local and national healthcare systems, and neighborhood organizations. Understanding the impact of these systems on communities, families and individuals has been an incredibly rich learning experience. I have worked directly with individuals, couples, and families treating a range of issues including anxiety, depression, suicidality, grief, trauma and complex trauma, phobias, low self-esteem, adjustments and life transitions, women's health and maternal wellness. My approach to social work practice is relational and deeply rooted in humanistic, trauma-informed care that centers restorative practices and belonging. Every client is unique whether that be an individual, family, organization or system. I pull from my extensive training in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Psychodynamic approaches. However, I work collaboratively with clients to center their specific needs and areas of growth. I believe that the human experience is complex and dialectical, filled with suffering and joy, growth and loss, connection and disconnection, love and loneliness. I appreciate that opportunity to co-create safe and brace spaces where I can support others in learning, growing, and healing as I am eternally grateful to have crossed paths with the many, many people who have informed my own growth, learning, and healing. Namaste. |
